Amp up your surfing with a kite!  At the extreme limits, kiteboarders have exceeded 57 knots (107kph/66mph) and jumps exceeding 15 meters (49 feet).  Kiteboarding is all about “Green Arrows” (wind strength exceeding 18 knots).  On January 22, 2023, Hawaiian kiteboarder Patri McLaughlin set a new Guinness World Record by riding a colossal 72-foot wave at Jaws, Maui. This wave, taller than the White House, marked the largest wave ever kitesurfed, showcasing the extreme potential and thrill of kiteboarding.

 

Laird Hamilton and Manu Bertin were key figures in popularizing kiteboarding during the mid-1990’s.
