Motorbike - Motocross Freestyle (FMX)

Category Motorbike

Freestyle Motocross - Riders launch numerous times, covering distances ranging from 15 meters (49 feet) vertically and 30 meters (98 feet) horizontally.  Get it right – spectacular! Get it wrong and paralysis is a distinct possibility, perhaps worse. Freestyle competition involves performing two routines lasting 90 seconds to several minutes on a course with multiple and varied jumps. A panel of judges scores the jumps based on difficulty and variation.  Freestyle was the forerunner to Big Air, with its roots in the canyons and dunes of Southern California. The crazy stunts that are regularly performed by these riders defy the imagination.

Big Air (aka best trick) - Each rider gets two jumps from a ramp in which they try to impress a panel of judges with the style, trick difficulty and originality of their jumps.  Jumps cover more than 22 meters (75 feet) from a dirt covered ramp.  The highest jump score for each rider is compared and highest score wins.
