Cliff Diving

Category Cliff Diving

Just jump!  Cliff diving began around 1750 in the Hawaiian Islands. Legend has it that the King of Maui – Kahekili II, forced his warriors to leap feet first from a cliff and land in the water below.  In modern-day world championships, diving heights range from around 20 meters (66 feet) to 25 meters (82 feet).  Dive from 25 meters, and you will hit the surface at about 100 kph (62 mph) and experience two to three Gs as you decelerate.  If your split the surface slightly off-vertical?  Painful.
